A wrinkle is a fold, ridge
or crease in the skin. Skin wrinkles
appear due to aging process habitual sleeping positions, loss of body mass or
due to prolonged immersion in water though the last one is temporary. Habitual facial
expressions, aging, sun damage, smoking, poor hydration and various other
factors are responsible for wrinkles
in the skin.
A fibrous protein called collagen helps maintain the fairness of
the skin and the other protein called elastin supplies its spring. An
underlying layer of fat adds contour and oil-secreting glands help to make it
soft and supple. With growing age the production of all these substances gets
reduced. As a result of lack of protein, the skin gradually weakens and loses
tone.
Wrinkles are probably inevitable, but getting to the root of the problem can
lead to its solution that is too not costly surgery or “anti-aging” creams, but
with some simple tips applicable in our daily routine.
·
Go for Antioxidants
Foods made from plants are rich sources of antioxidant.
They include vitamin A, C and E along with color-bearing compounds such as
beta-carotene and anthocyanin. For best result, have a plate of a variety of
deep-colored fruits and vegetable everyday along with nuts and legumes. A form
of vitamin A called retinol helps to reduce wrinkles. It stimulates collagen-producing cells. Retinol is
synthesized from beta-carotene but it can also be found in liver, eggs,
fortified foods like cereals and dietary supplements.
·
Fishes containing omega-3 fats and oils
The fats and oils most helpful for reducing wrinkles come in the form of omega-3
fatty acids. These are found profusely in salmon, herring, tuna and sardins. For
vegetarians, almonds, walnuts, flaxseed, sunflower oil and seeds can be good sources
.
·
Minerals
Two particular minerals help in reducing wrinkles are selenium and copper.
Selenium works as antioxidant and helps neutralize electron-hungry free
radicals before they can damage skin cells and it restores skin elasticity.
Copper helps to form collagen and elastin.
·
Drinks For Health
Some beverages act as antioxidant like tea, coffee and
cocoa. Green and white tea are superior in their antioxidant properties and
helps in reducing wrinkles. Choose
freshly brewed tea over instant or iced. Try for only true tea, camellia
sinensis, without any flavor like mint or chamomile.

sunscreen with SPF 25- 30 is effective to shield against ultraviolet- A and ultraviolet- B radiation of the sun.
·

The amount of sleep makes a night- and- day difference in
the formation of wrinkles. During
sleeps human growth hormone works to maintain healthy growth of all body tissues
including skin.
